Ms. Deidra Eberhardt, Senior Executive Service, is the Acting Executive Director, Space Systems Command, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. As the senior civilian, she is the primary advisor to the Commander on civilian and acquisition matters for a workforce of over 15,000 personnel across 29 operating locations delivering over $15 billion annually of resilient space capabilities to the joint warfighter. She drives critical decision making of policy and acquisition processes through unique approaches to procedure, tools and practices to enhance and expedite mission execution.
Ms. Eberhardt is concurrently the Atlas Director, leading a team of more than 800 personnel including the U.S. Space Force’s Commercial Space Office and International Affairs. Atlas delivers mission essential support in financial management, information technology, business innovation, small business and acquisition workforce development to the command. She drives data-informed decision making and collaboration across internal and external organizations and agencies.
Prior to her position as Atlas Director, she was the Director of Requirements, Integration and Strategy (SSC/S5), responsible for identifying and addressing interdependencies and gaps in the space enterprise and collaborating with space stakeholders to develop future resilient capabilities in support of the joint warfighter. She was also the Deputy Director for the Space Systems Integration Office managing the organize, train and equip functions for approximately 300 military and civilians. She held several positions at Space and Missile Systems Center before its designation as Space Systems Command including managing SMC’s investment funding and acquisition reporting at the portfolio-level and the center’s independent cost estimating and earned value efforts. In between her two time periods at SMC, she spent seven years at the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency as a Program Analyst, the agency’s Human and Animal Research focal point, and lastly as an Assistant Director, Program Management for one of the seven technical offices. Her experience with the Government before becoming a civil servant was as a support contractor in various leadership and financial roles.
