Landsat 8 observation data of Camp Fire
Earth observation data from Landsat 8 was used to create this NASA image of the Camp Fire as it burned near Paradise, Calif. Nov. 8, 2018. The U.S. Air Force provided data from some of its Overhead Persistent Infrared systems to assist the U.S. Forest Service fight this fire, demonstrating the dual military/civil use of OPIR, which primarily serves as the nation’s space-based missile early warning system.
