PATRICK SPACE FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Chief of Space Operations Gen. Chance Saltzman visited Patrick Space Force Base, Fla., April 10, 2023. This was Saltzman’s first visit to the base since becoming CSO in November 2022.
During the visit, Saltzman toured The Forge, an innovation and technology hub, had lunch with senior enlisted Guardians, held a junior Guardian town hall, and attended launch industry and enterprise briefings.
While touring The Forge, members from Space Launch Delta 45 (SLD 45) showcased innovative contributions and solutions to issues identified within team Patrick organizations.
“We want the U.S. Space Force to field a force of creative problem solvers with tools, structure, and resources while staying committed to optimizing our capabilities,” said Saltzman. “It is clear that this is what The Forge continually strives towards.”
Saltzman also visited with numerous Guardians and discussed creating a combat-ready force and enhancing the Guardian spirit.
“I will be laser focused on enhancing combat readiness of our forces,” said Saltzman. “It is important to me to continue developing our Guardians because their talents and expertise is our most important operational advantage.”
He also coined several Guardians in recognition of their hard work and as a thank you for their dedication to the space launch mission.
“I am proud of the Guardians at SLD 45 for their innovation efforts and embracing any challenges that arise, while also continuing to embody the Guardian values: character, connection, commitment, and courage,” said Saltzman.
