Airmen and Guardians –

In keeping with our commitment to honesty and transparency, the Department of the Air Force recently released both an Addendum to the Disparity Review and the findings from the Interpersonal Violence Task Force. Both documents are available at https://www.af.mil and https://www.spaceforce.mil.

As your leadership team, we are committed to ensuring every Airman and Guardian has the opportunity to serve to their full potential. The Addendum provides us with increased granularity on the trends identified in the previous Racial Disparity Reviews. We recognize that some of our teammates have had a different experience while serving; this addendum provides us with greater insight into the disparities that exist at the intersection of race, ethnicity, and gender.

The Interpersonal Violence Task Force findings specifically focused on the support and services available after someone experiences interpersonal violence. Behaviors of interpersonal violence exist on a continuum of harm ranging from bullying, to sexual innuendo, to stalking and physical behavior such as pushing or shoving. The behaviors were grouped into four categories – intimate partner/non-intimate partner violence, workplace harassment, workplace bullying, and hazing. Over half of the approximately 68,000 Total Force Airmen and Guardians who responded to the survey reported experiencing behaviors considered consistent with at least one type of interpersonal violence during the previous two years at work or in their personal lives.

We obviously have work to do, and we need your help. We ask that you read these reports, and bring your ideas, questions, and comments to the Facebook Live Town Hall we’re hosting on 18 November 2021.

One Team, One Fight!
