Space Force & Air Force announce sweeping changes to maintain superiority amid Great Power Competition

The establishment of the U.S. Space Force was a direct response to threats arising from Great Power Competition in the space domain. Nevertheless, our legacy roots leave us sub-optimized for the security environment confronting us today, and we must finish fine-tuning the service to continue meeting its National Defense Strategy responsibilities

In early 2024, the Department of the Air Force unveiled sweeping plans for reshaping, refocusing, and reoptimizing the Air Force and Space Force to ensure continued supremacy in their respective domains while better posturing the services to deter and, if necessary, prevail in an era of Great Power Competition. Through a series of 24 DAF-wide key decisions, four core areas which demand the Department’s attention will be addressed: Develop People, Generate Readiness, Project Power and Develop Capabilities.

The space domain is no longer benign; it has rapidly become congested and contested.

We must enhance our capabilities, develop Guardians for modern warfare, prepare for the high intensity fight, and strengthen our power projection to thrive and win in this new era of Great Power Competition.

AR-MEDCOM 2024 Best Warrior Competition: Final Day

Nine Army Reserve Soldiers representing different units under the Army Reserve Medical Command hierarchy prevailed through the fifth and final day of this year's AR-MEDCOM Best Warrior Competition, which began on April 16, 2024 and will conclude on April 21, 2024, in Fort McCoy, Wis. AR-MEDCOM BWC is an annual event that brings together competitors to test them on their physical endurance and mental acuity in a variety of combat-oriented events, factored with high fatigue and stress. During Day Four of AR-MEDCOM BWC 2024, the competitors took part in the Expert Physical Fitness Assessment in the early morning hours, followed by a CASEVAC/ Litter Obstacle Course, a High-Value Target assault and extraction course, and an appearance board with the AR-MEDCOM and its subordinate units' Command Sergeants Major.
Winners of both the AR-MEDCOM BWC Best NCO and Best Junior Soldier titles will proceed onto the U.S. Army Reserve Best Squad Competition on a later date this year.
