Brigadier General CASEY M. BEARD

Brig. Gen. Casey M. "Shaggy" Beard is the Deputy Commander, Space Operations Command, U.S. Space Force, Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado. As Deputy Commander, he is responsible for the generation, presentation and sustainment of U.S. Space Force combat-ready space, cyberspace, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance and combat support forces. Moreover, as the U.S. Space Force service force provider, he is responsible to the Secretary of the Air Force and Chief of Space Operations for sourcing, training, certifying and assessing the readiness of America’s Space Forces to execute service and combatant commander-assigned missions.

Brig. Gen. Beard earned his commission through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at Clemson University in 2001. He recently served as the Senior Executive Officer to the Chief of Space Operations, Pentagon, supporting the Service Chief on combat readiness, strategy and doctrine, talent management, organizational structure, training, education, force design, programming and budgets and leadership development. He coordinated across the Department of Defense, Combatant Commands, Military Services, and other partners at all levels to enable implementation of the Service Chief’s vision, strategy, objectives and priorities. He has extensive operational experience in nuclear operations, space domain awareness, orbital warfare and operational level command and control. Brig. Gen. Beard has served as a delta commander, squadron commander, division chief, branch chief, executive officer, flight commander, evaluator and instructor.
