Gen. Moorman Tribute ceremony
Gen. John W. “Jay” Raymond, U.S. Space Force Chief of Space Operations and Commander, U.S. Space Command, addresses attendees during the Gen. Moorman Tribute ceremony at the Moorman Education and Training Center at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, Aug. 3, 2020. During his speech, Raymond highlighted the life of Retired Gen. Thomas S. Moorman Jr. (1940-2020), who served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1997 as the fifth commander of Air Force Space Command and 26th Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force 1990 to 1994. Moorman dedicated his years to developing, planning and enhancing the space mission. In a speech he gave in 1990, Moorman predicted the USAF’s reliance on space to further its mission, saying, “The future of the Air Force is inextricably linked to space, and that space power will be as decisive in future conflicts as airpower is today.”
