S4S activation
U.S. Space Force Chief Master Sgt. Grange S. Coffin, U.S. Space Forces-Space (S4S) senior enlisted leader, U.S. Space Force Chief of Space Operations Gen. Chance Saltzman, and Lt. Gen. Douglas A. Schiess, S4S commander and the Combined Joint Force Space Component Commander, ceremonially unfurl the S4S flag during a ceremony at Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif., Jan. 31, 2024. Previously, Space Operations Command was assigned to U.S. Space Command as the Space Force service component, but this realignment of service component responsibilities under S4S optimizes force presentation for mission readiness.
