Chief of Space Operations Gen. Chance Saltzman passes the United States Space Force Combat Forces Command guidon to Lt. Gen. Gregory Gagnon, CFC commander, during an assumption of command ceremony at Peterson Space Force Base, Colo., Nov. 3, 2025. The ceremony also served as a redesignation of Space Operations Command to Combat Forces Command to align the field command’s name with its core roles and functions as part of the service’s evolution as a warfighting service.
