Space Force Vector 2025

Space Force Vector 2025 is a comprehensive document designed to provide Guardians with a unified reference that connects key guidance, initiatives and concepts shaping the Space Force. The document synchronizes the Space Force’s formative purpose and theory of success, an approach aimed to maintain space superiority and deter conflict through proactive and responsible operations. The full Space Force Vector 2025 document is available here.

A Proposed Theory Of Success For The U.S. Space Force

The Second Chief of Space Operations, Gen. Chance Saltzman published a White Paper titled Competitive Endurance: A Proposed Theory of Success for the U.S. Space Force in January 2024, detailing a system of assumptions, guiding principles, and logical conclusions that focus the service’s activities on a common operational perspective. This approach has three core tenets: avoiding operational surprise, denying first-mover advantage, and responsible counterspace campaigning. Saltzman emphasized that, like any theory, Competitive Endurance is meant to serve as a point of departure for analysis and critique. The White Paper is viewable here and should not serve as new doctrine or policy guidance.

Space Force Doctrine Document 1

Space Force Doctrine Document 1, The Space Force, codifies why we exist as a Service, who we are as Guardians, and how we employ spacepower to drive the success of the Joint Force. To ensure unity of effort, it is essential that each of us fully internalizes these concepts and embodies them as we engage with the entirety of the Joint Force, our allies, and partners. SFDD-1 can be read here.

Space Warfighting: A Framework for Planners

The Space Warfighting framework establishes basic principles for the use of military power to ensure freedom of movement in space for our forces while denying the same to our adversaries. The framework contextualizes space superiority with space control and counterspace operations and describes various offensive and defensive actions that can be taken to achieve space superiority. The Space Warfighting framework can be read here.
